Make Sunsets Monthly: Lo-Cooling?

Make Sunsets Monthly: Lo-Cooling?

[We originally sent the following to our mailing list subscribers 3/31/25. Added to website 4/5/25.]

Revenue: $14,034
Burn: $38,394
Cash: $920,560
Runway: ~23 months

Some sudden interest in localized cooling. Maybe something to do with 90°F+ SF weather in March? For better and worse, Mother Nature continues to be our best marketing person.

We hit 7 more flights on our plan, taking us through the first 2 of our 7 phases. This was across 21(!) flights: we're not breaking them as frequently as we used to! Less success with our drop from the stratosphere: balloon + plane went up and then all 3 sensors disappeared. If you happened to find a plane in Fruitvale around 10,000 feet last week, please lmk;)

Development improved, dramatically, by simulating in software. We can now see how flight plans *should* perform without launching the plane. Conservatively, this prevented premature smashing of 5 planes this month!

We hit another all-time high in monthly revenue, though we came in $965 short of our goal. Looking at the bigger picture, sales grew 14.9% quarter-over-quarter from Q4 2024 to Q1 2025.

This month, we also activated our first reseller partnership with Verdn, who just launched Token Offset — a tool for AI companies using OpenAI to automatically calculate and offset their emissions. Users can now choose to offset via our Cooling Credits. All it takes is an OpenAI account and API usage. We're excited to be the "Founder mode" option for companies that want AI to be cooler. Sign up here.

This month, we will:
1. Complete 5 successful plane drops from a quadcopter
2. Attempt 3 drops from the stratosphere, recovering the plane at least once
3. book 15 user interviews for localized cooling
4. $17,000 in sales

Crashing Less Stratosphering More,
