Attention concerned scientists and conspiracy theorists: you are geoengineers. Breathe, breed, eat, drive, fly: everything we do has a climate impact. It's unscientific to pretend that our intent matters: what matters is the net impact on global temperatures of our actions. Nature is literally incapable of caring whether we are trying to warm or cool earth. To channel Greta, how dare we think our intent matters?
And while we're at it, these left-right labels, profit vs. nonprofit: who in the world cares, or thinks these hold any meaning? My friends who run nonprofits often make more, personally, than my friends who work at money-grubbing filthy lucre capitalistic startups... and they usually work less with better benefits, too. In the climate and other emergencies we're facing, do we really want to stand around debating which brand of lifeboat to build? Or, might we focus on action rather than blathering?
